Kriti Sanon on 'Dilwale' experiences

Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s comeback to silver screen as a pair is the high point of the upcoming film “Dilwale” and actress Kriti Sanon says their presence never intimidated her.

The one-film old actress, who is paired opposite Varun Dhawan in the film, said it was a learning experience for her to work with senior actors like Shah Rukh, Kajol, Johnny Lever and Sanjay Mishra at such an early stage of her career.

“I never looked at it like that. I was the most inexperienced kid on the set. I was just one film old. I don’t think I will get to work with so many actors and learn from them in a single film. I never felt that I don’t have much role.”

Crediting film’s director Rohit Shetty for giving enough screen timing to everyone, the 25-year-old actress said she and Varun have an interesting track in the movie.

“Rohit sir is very clear about what he wants and he takes care of all the things. In his films, characters are very nicely spaced whether it’s Shah Rukh-Kajol or my and Varun’s love story. It’s very different from each other, very separate.”

In the film, releasing on December 18, the “Heropanti” star plays a girl next door.

“I play Ishita. She is a simple, sweet and normal girl. Rohit sir had told me that in his films either the stars are mad or they are too loud. But my character is very normal. She likes honesty,” she said.

The Delhi-born actress recalled the first scene with Shah Rukh where she had to scold him. The superstar’s friendly nature made the shot easy for her.

“I have grown up watching his films. For me, he was like Shah Rukh Khan the star. But when I met him, I realised he is very normal. Best thing about him is how comfortable he makes you feel.

“And his behaviour is same with everybody whether it’s an AD, spot boy or a character artiste. Once you meet and have spoken to him, you don’t feel the pressure to act opposite him. It was more of a learning experience to work with him.”

But sharing the screen space with Kajol, who last outing was “My Name is Khan”, initially made her nervous.

“Kajol ma’am is someone who takes little time to open up. She’s little guarded when you are meeting her for the first time. I hadn’t met her at all before doing my first scene with her. I was actually little scared and nervous to work with her. But she was really sweet and helped me give my best shot.”
