Kumar Sanu’s son Jaan has a strikingly different take on nepotism; says, “A commoner has a better chance than us”

Kumar Sanu’s son Jaan Kumar Sanu had come up with his new single, a romantic number ‘Tu Sandali’ on July 27. Despite being the son of a legendary singer like Kumar Sanu, Jaan says that he doesn’t have the superiority complex. Jaan is thankful to his mother that she has raised him and his siblings away from the limelight.

Talking about the current nepotism and insider vs outsider debate, Jaan said, “As star kids, we have a lot of expectations riding on us and the pressure is double because we have the entire legacy that we have to safeguard while maintaining our own identity. Being a star kid, it does open a few doors for us but a lot of expectations reside there. A commoner has a better chance than us at securing a break because they are expected to perform at a level of 10 or 20% but we are expected to perform at a level of 70-80% being a star kid.”

He further said, “I’m very glad that our mom has been the governing body and raised us away from the limelight. I never have the superiority complex being Kumar Sanu’s son. My father never had a Godfather behind him. Whatever he had achieved, it’s all because of my mom and his talent. When you achieve something by yourself, you know the value of that thing. My father had to preserve what he got by staying away from the limelight because he knows what he had to do to achieve and he values those things. I really get inspiration from him. After being one of the biggest singers in the industry, and keeping oneself away from the limelight, there must be a solid reason.”
