Kunaal Roy Kapur’s web series ‘Sandwiched Forever’ released on SonyLiv on December 25. He played the role of a video game designer, Sameer Sashtri. The web series also stars Aahana Kumra, Atul Kulkarni, Zakir Hussain and Lubna Salim. It is directed by Rohan Sippy.
In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Kunaal spoke about ‘Sandwiched Forever’, Rohan Sippy, ‘Delhi Belly’ and more.
When we asked Kunaal how ‘Delhi Belly’ helped him in shaping his career, he said, “It opened a lot of doors for me. Post this ‘Nautanki Saala’ and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ happened. Then ‘Tripling’ and ‘Bandish Bandits’. ‘Delhi Belly’ was the door that opened up a full career for me.”
On being asked if he is choosy, he said he is. “I am choosy. For me, the character and the story have to be interesting. Once you understand that the director is interested in the same thing you are interested in, like they are also interested in creating interesting characters and humour that hasn’t been done in a while, then you feel motivated to do something. You need that rapport with the director,” he said.
He added, “Getting into a project, if you can pick and choose, I think you should do that I guess. I do pick from the stuff that comes to me. I would like to do stuff walking in comic space or in a slightly different space also. Again, it is also a question of the opportunity that comes and hopefully, other genres will also open up for me in the future.”
