Popular comedian Kunal Kamra has been grabbing the headlines for all wrong reasons. Kamra recently heckled journalist Arnab Goswami on a flight and his video of the entire incident took the internet by storm. Now several Bollywood celebs have shared their views on the comedian’s action. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta though called Kamra’s move uncool but he thinks that what he did was necessary.
Singer Rekha Bhardwaj too felt that it was a not-so-cool move on Kamra’s part. However, filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap and Anubhav Sinha think what Kamra did was the need of the hour and the actions taken against the comedian by the airline shows how dictatorship has arrived in India.
After Kunal heckled journalist Arnab Goswami, several airlines like IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet and GoAir have either suspended him or banned him from flying.
I did this for my hero…

Now taking to his Twitter handle, director Hansal Mehta wrote, “Kunal Kamra’s act now seems almost like the only option to expose an establishment and its stooges. He called Arnab out in a very crude way and the response was a vulgar show of authoritarianism. Kamra’s protest still does not feel right to me but I almost feel it was necessary.”
You can check his series of tweet on Kunal below.
I did not like the way @kunalkamra88 heckled Arnab on a flight. I felt it was unnecessary and uncool coming from someone who usually criticizes with such sharp wit. But seeing the even more uncool response by airlines (with govt blessings) to his behavior I have mixed feelings…

I used to know Arnab earlier – not exactly a friend but as someone passionate about news and debate. It is sad to see him becoming a preposterous, partisan and obnoxious servant of a dictatorial establishment. He symbolises the mostly comatose state of tv journalism in India.

Whereas ‘Article 15′ director Anubhav Sinha in support of Kamra wrote, “If you F#ck with our man this is what will happen’
Imagine YouTube Banning Kunal Kamra, or Airtel cancelling all his internet connections including his phone. Do you think this is impossible???? Why do you think Vistara has not banned him??? Dictatorship has arrived my friends.(sic)”

Agreeing with Sinha, actor-director Anurag Kashyap said, “Totally, you beat people on our behalf you won’t be arrested, you lynch people, you will be let go and garlanded, you kill people in riots – they will let you off with social work .. the messaging sent out by this government is very clear.”

‘Gully Boy’ actor Vijay Varma too came out in support of Kunal and used colourful language for the journalist.

Richa Chadha tagged every single airlines’ handle who banned Kunal and raised question over their ethics.

Konkona Sen Sharma retweeted Richa’s tweet thereby lending her support to Kunal.
Even singer Rekha Bhardwaj shared her opinion on the incident but she is clearly not happy with the way Kamra behaved.
Thats okay. Its his prerogative to get into discussion with you or others or not ?good you dint trouble him today.
That was not so cool yesterday . I saw the video ??— rekha bhardwaj (@rekha_bhardwaj) January 29, 2020
The comedian has issued a statement over his flight ban and raised questioned about how the airlines can make the decision when no formal complaint has been filed against him.
