Lata Mangeshkar’s brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar hospitalised, son shares health update

Lata Mangeshkar’s brother, musician Hridaynath Mangeshkar has been admitted to a hospital. But he is “doing well”, confirmed by his, singer son Adinath Mangeshkar. Hridaynath is the younger brother of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. He is 84 and will be discharged within ten days.

As per a report by PTI, on Sunday, at the inaugural of Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award, Adinath while addressing the people had said it was his father who would always deliver the welcome speech and give information about the trust, but wasn’t able to do it this year as he was hospitalized. Adinath didn’t reveal the cause why his father was hospitalized.

He said, “All these years it was my father, Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar ji, who would deliver the welcome address and give information about our trust. This year he’s unable to do so because he’s in the hospital currently.”

He added, “By the grace of God, he will be back home in the next 8-10 days. He is stable and doing well”.

For the unversed, the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar was held as part of the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Awards ceremony which marked the 80th death anniversary of Master Deenanath Mangeshkar. Earlier, in a statement, the family and the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan charitable trust had said that the award that has begun this year is in the honour and memory of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. She passed away in February.

Talking about Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is the first recipient of the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar, was also present at the event and wished him a speedy recovery.
