His elder son Babil Khan was present in the audience and as soon as hosts Riteish Deshmukh, Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana started talking about the legendary actor, Babil just couldn’t stop his tears. He cried inconsolably before he was asked to come on the stage and take the award on his late father’s behalf.

Babil was styled by his mother Sutapa Sikdar and dressed in his father Irrfan Khan’s clothes. He also gave an emotional speech on the stage. He was felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Indian cinema over the years. “I am so grateful that you all accepted me with open arms and you gave me so much love and warmth. You and I will make this journey together. We will take Indian cinema to newer heights,” Babil said. Rajkummar was also emotional as Babil delivered a speech on his father’s behalf. Earlier The star kid revealed the story behind the clothes in his Instagram post. He wrote, “The story behind the clothes was that my father hated participating in fashion shows and ramp walks but he did it in these same clothes in order to continuously break out of his comfort zone. That is exactly what I was doing last night, tearing though into new spaces that I’m uncomfortable with.”
