Kangana Ranaut faces legal trouble for ‘misidentifying’ Shaheen Bagh activist Bilkis Bano

Kangana Ranaut has entangled herself in yet another legal trouble. The actress always manages to grab attention for all the wrong reasons. This time a Punjab based lawyer has sent her a legal notice for misidentifying an old woman in the recent farmers’ protest as Bilkis Bano, who is popularly known as Shaheen Bagh dadi. 

According to an ANI report, advocate Harkam Singh has sent the notice to Kangana. The lawyer has also demanded an apology from the ‘Queen’ actress.

The same report also stated that the lawyer in his notice has mentioned that if Kangana fails to issue an apology a defamation case will be filed against her. Sharing details of the legal notice which he sent to the actress, Harkam Singh told ANI, “I sent a legal notice for a tweet misidentifying Mohinder Kaur as Bilkis Bano with an insinuation that she (Kaur) was available as a hired protestor for Rs 100. The notice gives Ranaut seven days to issue an apology failing which a defamation case will be pursued.”

The lawyer also said that Kangana should verify the information first before sharing it on social media. For the unversed, a few days back commenting on the ongoing farmers’ protest, Kangana had tweeted that Shaheen Bagh dadi was present at the protest and that she is available for just Rs 100.

The actress had later deleted her tweet when people pointed out that the old women present at the protest was Mohinder Kaur and not Bilkis Bano. Here’s a screenshot of her deleted tweet.

The notice sent to the actress reads, “That by tweeting in such a manner, the same also points out towards the fact that the protest which is being conducted by the farmers, is being conducted by bringing persons on rent. Such low thinking from you, who herself is lady and celebrity, is not acceptable. That you have further made a mockery of the farmers who, by putting their life to risk, have been protesting for their rights. It is known to one and all that in the said farmers’ protest, a number of farmers have already lost their lives.”

Several celebs like Sargun Mehta, Himanshi Khurana and Ammy Virk has also slammed Kangana for her views on the farmers’ protest.
