The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are currently underway in Mumbai and several celebrities have been snapped post casting their votes. From Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao to Janhvi Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Farhan Akhtar and others, many celebs have done their civic duties by voting. 68-year-old actor Paresh Rawal was also snapped exercising his right to vote.
After casting his vote, the actor spoke to the media about the importance of casting a vote. also suggested that all who do not vote should be punished or their taxes increased.
Paresh Rawal: Punish those who don’t vote
In a video shared on social media by ANI, Paresh Rawal can be heard saying, “Aap kahoge sarkar yeh nahin karti, woh nahi karti aur agar aaj aap matdaan nahi karoge toh uske liye zimmedaar aap honge. Aur sarkaar zimmedaar nahi hai. (You may say the government doesn’t do this, it doesn’t do that, but if today you don’t vote, then you will be responsible for it. The government is not responsible.)”
Suggesting that those who do not vote should be punished, the senior actor continued, “Those who do not vote, there should be some action against them. Either increase their taxes. There should be some punishment or reaction for them.”
Paresh appeals to all to vote
Paresh Rawal had earlier appealed to people to vote. He wrote on X, “Bad politicians are not born. They are created… Created By the good people who go on a Picnic on a Voting Day!”
