Richa Chaddha starrer ‘Love Sonia‘ that is directed by Tabrez Noorani has hit the right chords with the viewers. The hard-hitting film that is based on the global issue of human trafficking is all set to be showcased at the UN (United Nations), marking its first screening in the United States.
The film that is produced by the Oscar-nominated director David Womark will be screened at UN on October 11, which marks the International Day of the Girl Child. The news was shared on the social media by trade analyst Taran Adarsh who tweeted: #NewsUpdate: #LoveSonia goes to United Nations… Special screening in New York on 11 Oct 2018, the International Day of the Girl Child… This will be the first official screening of the film on US soil.

The screening of ‘Love Sonia’ will be hosted by the UN Office for Drugs and Crime and Indian anti-trafficking organisation, Apne Aap Women Worldwide.
The story of the movie is based on a 17-year-old girl whose father sells her sister in the sex trade to pay off his debts. Then, the story is followed by the girl’s quest to rescue her sister from the sex trade. At the opening of the Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), the movie was honoured with the Best Indie Film award.
The film features Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chadha, Rajkummar Rao, Sai Tamhankar, Adil Hussain, Demi Moore, Freida Pinto and debutant Mrunal Thakur and was released in India on September 14.
