Madhuri Dixit’s mother Snehlata Dixit dies at 90, Actress says, ‘Aai passed away peacefully’

It is a difficult time for Madhuri Dixit and her family. Madhuri Dixit’s mother Snehlata Dixit is no more. The actress’ mother passed away on Sunday, March 12. She was 90-years-old. Madhuri’s mother Snehlata died at her Mumbai residence.

In a joint statement shared by India Today, Madhuri Dixit and her husband Shriram Nene said, “Our beloved Aai (mother), Snehlata, passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by her loved ones.”

Last month, Shriram Nene had shared a picture of two mugs and penned a sweet note about his mother-in-law. He tweeted, “My 90 yo mother-in-law paints. She has muscular degeneration and can’t see too well. But what comes out of her mind is remarkable. She is the loveliest, most positive person in the world. We had her paintings placed on mugs to remind us of her talent.”

Madhuri was very close to her mother. Last year, Madhuri celebrated her mother’s birthday. The actress had shared a bunch of photos with her mother and sisters on Instagram. Madhuri note read, “Happy Birthday, Aai! They say a mother is a daughter’s bestfriend. They couldn’t be any more right. From everything that you’ve done for me, the lessons that you’ve taught have been the biggest gift for me from you. I wish you only good health & happiness! #Birthday #HappyBirthday #90thBirthday #MotherDaughter.”

Last year, when she was promoting her OTT debut project The Fame Game, Madhuri Dixit had revealed that her mother never treated her differently even after she became a star. Speaking with ETimes, Madhuri had said, “I mean, even when I was working in films, my mom used to scold me if my room was messed up and things like that. So, that’s how I was brought up. And that’s how I am. When I go home, everything is back in the studio. I see my kids and I see my husband and it’s just a different life.”
