When asked if there was any moment she felt people didn’t have much faith in her but she stood on her ground, to this Madhuri Dixit said, “No, no, I will tell you what…I was a classical dancer, right? I was used to dancing on stage. Yes, I had not really danced for the camera. So, when I came into the industry, suddenly I was dancing for the camera, which is a completely different language altogether.”

She added, “So, I was doing songs with Saroj Ji for Uttar Dakshin and for Ram Lakhan. And those were Indian-style songs. She told me, ‘Indian, you do well, but Western, I have not seen you do. So, when we do Ek Do Teen, you will have to rehearse for it.’ And I took that chance. I said, ‘Yes, I want to rehearse because I want to know how to dance for the camera, not like on stage.’ It’s very different. So, she said, ‘Okay, okay, you have to come and rehearse and all that.’ So, I rehearsed and made sure I knew my steps properly and all that. So I could concentrate on how to interact with the camera while dancing.”

The actress concluded, “You know, all these things I have learned and pushed myself to learn, right? Yes. And then, when we did Ek Do Teen and the song came out, it was like ‘Wow!’ During that song, I actually learned how to do Bollywood dancing.”

Madhuri Dixit reveals her competition in the industry was with herself. She said, “The top of success, you know? This answer is very simple. I was my own competition. For me, it was like, ‘Okay, I achieved this in this song. What do I do in the next song? You know, how do I go the extra mile and try to do something that’s better than the song I’ve done before?”
