Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, to stop the spread and surge of COVID-19, had earlier shut shootings. The guidelines clearly stated, ‘Shooting of Films, Serials, Advertisements to be closed’. On Thursday, June 3, Congress leader and relief and rehabilitation minister Vijay Wadettiwar had announced that the Maharashtra govt has decided upon an unlock plan. As per Wadettiwar, districts have been divided on the basis of the weekly positivity rate and percentage of occupancy of oxygen beds. If there are a lesser Covid-19 positivity rate and occupancy of oxygen beds, then there would be more relaxation in that particular district.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has shared a 5-level plan in the state. The order stated, “There shall be five levels of restrictions for different classes/categories of activities. These levels of restrictions shall be applied based on two parameters: Case positivity rate and Percentage of Oxygen Beds Occupancy”.
As per the 5-level plan of the govt, districts and cities falling in ‘Level 1’ will have the minimum restrictions, while lockdown-like curbs will continue in areas under ‘Level 5’. In Level 1 districts, all shops, malls, and PVRs can resume their operations. In Level 2 areas, malls and theatres can operate at 50 per capacity. Mumbai falls in Level 2. In Level 3, essential items shops can open till 4 PM, while non-essential items shops are permitted till 4 PM on weekdays. Malls and theatres remain to shut in Level 3 districts. Shootings can be resumed but there will be a 50 percent cap on gatherings.
