Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt file Rs. 1 crore defamation case against Luviena Lodh

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and his brother Mukesh Bhatt have filed a defamation suit in the Bombay High Court against model-actress Luviena Lodh for making defamatory, slanderous and false allegations against them. As per a report by PTI, the Bhatts have sought Rs 1 crore in damages from the actress and an order restraining her from making any such false claims in future.

The plea was heard on Monday by a single bench of Justice A K Menon which directed Lodh to file a reply and posted it for hearing after three weeks. Lodh’s advocates assured the court that she would not publish or make any such statement against Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt.

The suit said, “The suit is also seeking damages to the tune of Rs one crore from the respondent (Lodh) for making various grossly defamatory, slanderous, distasteful and false allegations and statements against the applicants (Bhatts).” Also, it asked Luviena to delete the video she posted against the Bhatt brothers.

In the video, Luviena said, “I have filed a divorce case against my husband (Sumit Sabharwal) as I got to know that he supplies drugs to actors like Amyra Dastur and Sapna Pabbi. He has pictures of several actresses on his phone, which he shows to different directors. Mahesh Bhatt is well aware of everything. He is the ‘biggest don’ in the industry. He operates the entire system in the industry. If you don’t play by their rules, they wreak havoc in your life.”

She further added, “Mahesh Bhatt has ruined the careers of many actors, music composers. He is after me since the time I filed a case against them. They tried all ways to enter my house and even throw me out from my place. No one filed my NC when I went to the police station and even when I manage to file it, no action was taken.”

The suit filed by the Bhatts also claimed Sumit Sabherwal was not directly related to them and he was “the son of the applicants’ sister’s husband’s brother” and Lodh had malicious intentions to obtain the best settlement in her divorce proceedings with her estranged husband.
