‘Sushmita Sen has the guts to live on her own dictates: Mahesh Bhatt defends her relationship with Lalit Modi

Ever since Lalit Modi posted his pictures with Sushmita Sen, confirming their romance, the couple has constantly been in the news. Especially Sushmita has been subjected to a lot of judgement and trolling, and while the actress has emerged stronger giving befitting replies to the trolls, even the Hindi film industry has come out in support of her, and the latest one to join the list is filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt.

Mahesh Bhatt has known Sushmita Sen as his brother Vikram Bhatt was once in a relationship with her. While talking to ETimes, the director came out to defend the actress and her relationship with Modi, as he said, “What I salute her for is that she has lived her life on her own terms. She has the guts to live on her own dictates. My personal belief is that we must, in the second decade of the 21st century, give human beings the right to live life on their own terms. And also if you don’t want somebody else to impose his or her own views and beliefs on you and let you live your life then you must also not do the same to somebody else. I think she has always been a person who has followed her heart and lived her life on her own terms.”

Not just that, Mahesh Bhatt also went on to recall how Vikram Bhatt and Sushmita Sen got into a relationship on the sets of his film Dastak. He shared, “During the making of Dastak, Vikram’s romance with Sushmita started in Seychelles. Vikram was my right hand and used to be at the forefront, doing most of my work. So, he used to interact with her more vigorously. That’s how the romance began.”

Ever since Sushmita’s relationship with Lalit Modi became public, the actress has faced much scrutiny and recently she gave the perfect reply to that in an Instagram post. A part of her note read, “It’s heartbreaking to see just how miserable & unhappy the world around us is becoming… The so called intellectuals with their idiosyncrasies….the ignorant with their cheap & at times funny gossip… The friends I never had & the acquaintances I’ve never met….all sharing their grand opinions & deep knowledge of my life & character…monetising the ‘Gold Digger’ all the way!!! Ah these geniuses!!! I dig deeper than Gold…and I’ve always (famously) preferred Diamonds!!??❤️And yes I still buy them myself!!! (sic)”.
