Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, last year many filmmakers took the OTT route to release their films as the theatres were closed due to the lockdown. This year too, due to the second wave of Covid-19, theatres have been shut down and we have seen films releasing on OTT platforms. Well, there have been rumours that Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan will release on an OTT platform through the pay-per-view model.
Well, in their statement, the makers have clarified that “there is currently no conversation with any streaming platform for pay per view release of Maidaan”. Their main focus is to complete the film keeping everyone’s safety in mind by following the Covid-19 protocols set by the government.

Recently, cyclone Tauktae caused a lot of damage to Maidaan’s sets. In fact, the sets have been completely damaged. Boney has instructed his art department to rebuild the set and the shooting will resume once the government allows.
Maidaan is a biographical sports drama based on the life of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Directed by Amit Sharma, the film also stars actress Priyamani as the female lead. It is produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, and Arunava Joy Sengupta. Maidaan is set to release in theatres on October 15 this year.
