Ever since its announcement, Imtiaz Ali’s Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma-starrer ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ has been in the news. And well, for good reasons; one, it is an Imtiaz Ali movie, two it stars SRK and Anushka who are known to deliver a beautiful chemistry on screen, and three, because of the title which underwent numerous changes post which the makers shortlisted the current one. And now, there is one more very cute reason for the fans to cheer; the innovative marketing technique that the makers have come up with.
Shah Rukh Khan and Imtiaz Ali  have together come up with the idea of ‘mini trails’ instead of a full-fledged trailer, to introduce the characters and essence of the movie. These trails will be small 30-second bits which will tease the audience with tit-bits that it will give away. The mini-trails will not only introduce the characters Harry and Sejal, but also treat us to specific moments that will eventually lead to the bigger story.
Talking about the same, Shah Rukh said, “The whole idea of ‘mini trails’ is to introduce Harry and Sejal, the two players amidst the beautiful love story. These trails will serve as moments from their journey which gradually lead to the bigger story that would unfold in the theatres.” (Also Read: Hey, Shah Rukh Khan! “Imtiaz has a special way of writing and shooting his scenes. Even the most simple of scenes have an underlying emotion or a sub-text within them. These ‘mini trails’ will highlight moments from our film, which Imtiaz so lovingly weaves into his tales. The thought behind these trails is to draw audiences closer to Harry and Sejal,” he added.
Well, this is not the first time that movie makers have decided to do away with trailers. Last year, SRK and Alia Bhatt-starrer ‘Dear Zindagi’ decided to come up with four teasers instead of one trailer. This year, Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra-starrer ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’ too released five mini chapters and not a trailer. Let’s see how the strategy benefits the makers of ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’.
