Aishwarya Rai (Sarbjit)-Salman Khan

Omung Kumar’s ‘Sarbjit’ is based on the true story of a farmer Sarabjit Singh who was convicted in Pakistan on charges of terrorism and spying. He spent 23 years inside the prison waiting for justice, while his sister Dalbir Kaur relentlessly tried to free her brother. Unfortunately, that never happened. Sarabjit died a sad death in the jail itself, allegedly after being attacked by his inmates.

This is an appalling story which is meant to move each individual’s mind. While the makers tried their best to keep the essence of the original story intact, there was one event they had to drop – that of Dalbir Kaur approaching Salman Khan for help!

According to a report in DNA, Khan was filming for ‘Dabangg 2’ when Kaur along with Sarabjit’s daughters met him on the sets and requested them to help him. Salman, who is known to carry a compassionate heart, instantly agreed and also initiated an online petition demanding Sarabjit to be set free. However, this entire incident was not featured in the film, thanks to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s reluctance to film with her ex-flame.

Salman and Aishwarya have broken up years ago and have moved on with their respective lives. However, they never came back to talking terms and have carefully avoided bumping into each other. Dalbir Kaur’s conversation with Khan is not a sequence where they both can film individually; both Salman and Aishwarya would have to come face-to-face.  Aishwarya, apparently, was not okay sharing screen with Salman. Helpless, the makers dropped the incident.

Never mind, the film’s trailer is still garnering praises from all corners and is believed to be one of the strongest biopics in recent times.

Directed by Omung Kumar, the film is slated to release on May 20.
