The Coronavirus outbreak has brought the entire world to a standstill. The situation is simply worsening day by day since no vaccination or effective treatment method against the Covid-19 has been found so far. With shoots and production coming to a halt, film industry too is badly hit by this pandemic.
The latest buzz suggests that OTT platforms are trying their best to milk the situation and are offering lucrative deals to the filmmakers to release their films on their digital platforms. One such report claimed that the makers of Ranveer Singh starrer ’83 were offered a whopping sum of Rs. 143 crore by a leading OTT platform, however, Reliance Entertainment Group CEO Shibashish Sarkar has denied any possibility of releasing their film digitally.
Kabir Khan’s ’83 starring Ranveer Singh in the lead is one of the most anticipated films of this year. The sports drama was scheduled to release in April, however, owing to the outbreak of Coronavirus the makers decided to put it on hold.

Now the latest rumours suggest that the makers of ’83 are contemplating to release their film digitally. However, quashing these reports, Shibashish Sarkar told Bollywood Hungama, “There is no truth to these reports. ’83 has been made for the big-screen experience. Right now, there’s no intention or interest of the directors or we as the producers of taking these films to the small screen. If the situation deteriorates rapidly or there is no visibility of normalcy even after six months, we will evaluate then. But right now, we are all quite positive and I foresee that between next 4 to 6 months, cinema halls will start operating. So that’s the hope and mind-set which we currently have.”
’83 is bankrolled by Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Phantom Films, Kabir Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sajid Nadiadwala and Reliance Entertainment.
Well, let’s keep our fingers crossed and pray that the situation caused due to the pandemic comes under control. And things get back to normalcy.
