Filmmaker Raj Kaushal passed away on June 30. The 49-year-old ad filmmaker died after suffering a massive heart attack. The news of Raj’s untimely demise left everyone devastated. His wife Mandira Bedi was inconsolable while performing his last rites. Following her husband’s death, Mandira even deleted her Instagram profile picture. The actress has finally shared a heartfelt post in the memory of her late husband.
Raj and Mandira were married for more than two decades. The actress is still trying to fathom how things changed so drastically overnight. Sharing a few throwback pictures with Raj, Mandira simply captioned it with a broken heart emoji.

In her post, both Mandira and Raj are seen happily posing for pictures while enjoying a glass of wine. Celebs like Saina Nehwal, Mithila Palkar, Adah Sharma, Shakti Mohan send their love and well wishes to the Shanti actress.
Post her husband’s demise, Mandira was seen performing his last rites. She was also seen carrying her husband’s bier. When pictures of Raj’s funeral surfaced on social media, a section of the netizen trolled Mandira for carrying the bier as they feel ‘women are not supposed to perform these rituals’. It’s 2021 and instead of praising a woman for breaking social stereotype, some narrow minded netizens can’t fathom the fact that today no one should be dictated about what they should or shouldn’t do. A time when someone is going through personal loss, it pains to come across insensitive reporting about what Mandira was wearing at the funeral or how she performed the last rites.
Coming back to the couple, it was more than two decades ago when Raj and Mandira met at an audition of the show Philips Top 10. Mandira was called for the show’s audition and it was Raj (who was Mukul Anand’s chief assistant at that time) who was taking the auditions. It was then when Raj noticed Mandira for the first time despite having seen her in the film Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.

The couple tied the knot on February 14 in 1999 as per Arya Samaj Hindu style and a traditional Anand Karaj ceremony. They later welcomed their first child Vir in 2011. It was only last year when Raj and Mandira had adopted a daughter Tara.
Raj’s sudden demise left everyone flabbergasted. The filmmaker had complained of feeling uneasy a few hours before his death. But before Mandira could get him medical attention he passed away.
