Films and controversies are directly proportional to each other and they go hand in hand. Recently, it was reported that the Karni Sena threatened protests if ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ is not screened for the outfit before its theatrical release.

However, Lokendra Singh Kalvi, the chief of Karni Sena on Saturday took a dig at Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut for using the name of the Karni Sena in the interest of the film. He clarified that Karni Sena has no issues with the film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’. Lokendra Singh Kalvi also alleged that the people have been using the name of the Karni Sena in order to vest interests out of it.

In an interview with India Today, Karni Sena chief said, “Karni Sena does not have any objection to Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, because no one has raised any concern with us, neither from the family nor from the community or region. Either people from Jhansi or Brahmins or family members should have an objection. Problem toh wahaan se khadi hoti na? How am I concerned?”

This comes days after Kangana Ranaut had given a strong response to such criticisms and violent reactions towards the film by saying that the film has got approved by eminent historians but even after that she is getting harassed by such threats. The actress further stated that she too would take strong actions if any such incident happens in the future.

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is a historical periodic drama which is going to be released on January 25, 2019. Lyricist Prasoon Joshi has penned the songs for the film which captures the life story of Rani Laxmibai. Kangana will be portraying the role of Rani Laxmibai on the big screen. The film also happens to be Kangana’s directorial debut in Bollywood.
