It is no secret that Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan have been at loggerheads with each other since long. The duo has been washing their dirty linen in public over their alleged relationship and have never missed an opportunity to take a dig at each other. Now Kangana’s decision to release her historical drama ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ on January 25, the same date as Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Super 30’ has raised a number of eyebrows.
However, as reported by the Telegraph, the makers of ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ have assured that the clash is not ‘deliberate’. Producer Kamal Jain argued that the film deserved to be released either on Independence Day or Republic Day. Since they’ve missed the August 15 deadline, they chose to settle for the second option.
Trade analyst Atul Mohan also described the clash as a business decision. He said, “Looking at what we saw a few months back, it appears to be a clash of egos. But considering the stakes involved, they are dependant on a big weekend, which coincides with a national holiday. ‘Super 30’ is an inspiring tale for parents and students and ‘Manikarnika’ comes with patriotism. At the end of the day, it’s only content which will do the talking.”
‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ stars Kangana Ranaut in the role of Rani Laxmibai. Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta plays the role of Gangadhar Rao, the Raja of Jhansi. Whereas ‘Super 30’ is a biopic on mathematician and instructor Anand Kumar who trains economically-disadvantaged students for IIT entrance exams.
