Manisha Koirala was ruling the Hindi film industry in the 90s. But post that, the actress has had a lot of struggles in her personal life. In 2010, Manisha got married to a Nepali businessman Samrat Dahal, but two years later they got separated. The same year, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and had a long and arduous battle with the disease.
Manisha Koirala on not having a life partner
The actress hasn’t been with anyone since her divorce. Recently, in an interview with ETimes, she was asked her thoughts on having a life partner and companionship. To which, she replied, “To have a family is a bit late now, no? Sometimes I do wonder if I had a life partner, then would life have been better? I don’t know. I feel my life is complete and my children are my dog and my cat, Mowgli and Simba. Plus, I have wonderful parents and an amazing friends circle. Still, sometimes I wonder would it be nicer if I had a life partner?”
On embracing motherhood…
Manisha also opened up on whether she plans to embrace motherhood. She insisted that it all comes down to whether she has the confidence to raise a child as a single mother. She said,“I know how responsible you have to be to raise a child in this world. The day I get the confidence that as a single mother I can do that, I will do it. But keeping in mind my health background, my multiple interests that I wish to pursue and the sense of freedom that I am enjoying now… if I can sacrifice all that and focus on being a parent, I would love to do that.”
On the work front, Manisha has done some selective work in the recent years. In 2018, she appeared in the anthology Lust Stories. She then played the role of the late actress Nargis in Sanjay Dutt’s biopic Sanju. She, then appeared alongside Sanjay in Prassthaanam, did a Netflix film Maska and also appeared in AR Rahman’s 99 Songs. This year she was seen as Kartik Aaryan’s mother in Shehzada. Up next, she has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi.
