Manoj Bajpayee on mentorship

National Award winning actor Manoj Bajpayee, who will be seen essaying the real life character of Biranchi Das — who coached a boy named Budhia to run for marathons — in forthcoming biopic ‘Budhia Singh – Born To Run’, says every person needs a mentor who can spot his talent and support him.

“‘Budhia Singh – Born To Run’ is a tribute to my mentors. They have played a very important role in shaping my career as an actor. It was their conviction and belief in me that really made me think that I can act. Without their support, maybe I wouldn’t have reached where I am today,” the 47-year-old actor said in a statement.

“Similarly, I want every Budhia to get his Biranchi Das who can spot the talent and support him, nurture and push him to achieve his goals in life,” added the actor, who considers Ram Gopal Varma and Barry John as his ‘Biranchi Das’.

Produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Code Red Film Productions, the film, directed by Soumendra Padhi, will hit the screens on August 5.

The plot of the story revolves around the life of Budhia Singh, who ran a record-breaking 65 km from Puri to Bhubaneswar in 2006 at the age of four and found a place in the Limca Book of Records. He was coached by Biranchi Das, who was actually a judo trainer.
