Fiery actress Kangana Ranaut was last seen in Hansal Mehta’s ‘Simran’. The film (that released two years back) failed to live up to everyone’s expectation. This year, Kangana is all set to enthral the audience with her portrayal of the queen of Jhansi – Rani Laxmibai in the biographical period drama – ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi‘.

Interestingly, the actress will also be making her directorial debut with this film. She took over the reins of the film when director Krish walked out of the project owing to his commitment to other projects. After facing several hurdles, the film is set to hit the silver screens tomorrow.

Prior to its release, the makers of the film hosted its special screening for industry people and it was attended by several veteran actors and the film’s cast and crew. Thoroughly impressed by Kangana’s performance in the film, veteran actor and Padma Shri Manoj Kumar was quoted saying in Pinkvilla as, “Kangana has once again immortalized Rani Laxmibai who was lost in history books.”

The veteran actor added further, “I think Kangana was born to play her character onscreen. Everybody has done a great job in the film, but Kangana has immortalized the character of Rani Laxmibai.”

Coming from an actor of his calibre, these praises must have made Kangana very proud.

Produced by Kamal Jain and Zee Studios, ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ also stars Atul Kulkarni, Danny Denzongpa, Jisshu Sengupta and Ankita Lokhande in pivotal roles.
