Masaba Gupta opens up on how she dealt with her divorce with Madhu Mantena

Neena Gupta’s daughter and celebrated fashion designer Masaba Gupta is all set to make her acting debut with Netflix’s upcoming series ‘Masaba Masaba’. Ahead of the semi-autobiographical show’s premiere, Masaba recently opened up about separating with her ex-husband Madhu Mantena.

The fashion designer revealed that she immersed herself in her professional life so much that she didn’t have time to realise what was happening in her personal life.

Opening up about her divorce for the first time, Masaba told Pinkvilla, “Everyone has a perception if you are divorced. I got so busy with work that I didn’t even have the time to realise what was happening in my personal life. I had my own way of dealing with it.”

She went on to reveal how her decision affected her mother Neena more as she hasn’t anticipated it at all.

Further commenting on the judgment of the society on her divorce, Masaba told the entertainment portal, “It happens a lot. Somebody was telling me the other day and I completely forgot that I didn’t give myself any time to process my divorce. My uncle told me, ‘Why are you on this treadmill? Can you just process this and then move on?’ I think people take it for granted, that Masaba is strong, she will manage. I have changed drastically because I allow myself to not just grieve and feel down. I take two days off even when I feel celebratory. But no one knows what you are going through until you are going through it yourself. People understand how silly they were being when they deal with it themselves.”

Masaba had tied the knot with Madhu in 2015. The couple mutually filed for a divorce which was finalised in 2019.
