Deepika Padukone was all over the news recently for her bold move of visiting the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus and expressing her solidarity with the assaulted students. For this move, the actress received mixed reaction as a certain section applauded her while some trolled her to the point of asking to boycott her movie ‘Chhapaak’.
Meghna Gulzar, who has directed ‘Chhapaak’, recently spoke about the actress’ JNU visit and said that her decision was personal and had nothing to do with her professional life.
Meghna talking about the visit told PTI, “We have to be able to separate between the personal and professional. What somebody does in their personal life and what they have done as a professional in a film needs to be looked at separately.”
She further added that people need to pay attention to the cause of why the movie was made. “While they are trying to separate the lens of personal and professional if one can slightly divert the lens back to the reason why we made the film and what we are trying to talk about and bring to light… I think it is important,” shared the filmmaker.
