Bollywood Diva Deepika Padukone has tied the knot with her beau Ranveer Singh. The ‘Padmaavat’ star who is at present busy enjoying her married life will soon start work on her next project which is being helmed by Meghna Gulzar. The two powerful ladies are collaborating for a biopic that is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
After Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’, which released in January this year, this will be Deepika’s first project. Deepika is also marking her debut in the field of production with this biopic which has finally got a title. Yes, the makers of the film have finalized ‘Chhapaak’ as its title.
The news of the film’s title was confirmed by Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh on Twitter.

Actor Vikrant Massey who has worked in movies such as ‘Lootera’, ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ and ‘Half Girlfriend’ has been roped in to play the lead opposite Deepika. Vikrant will be seen depicting the role of Laxmi’s former partner, Alok Dixit in the film.
For the uninitiated, Laxmi was a school student when she was attacked by a man in 2005 after she rejected his marriage proposal. She was one of the winners of the US State Department’s International Women of Courage Award in 2014 and has also hosted a few episodes of a TV show, and walked the ramp at London Fashion Week in 2016.
Laxmi is the director of Chhanv Foundation, an NGO dedicated to helping acid attack survivors. She has opened cafes in Lucknow and Agra that are entirely managed by the acid attack survivors.
Deepika Padukone and Meghna Gulzar’s collaboration ‘Chhapaak’ is all set to go on floors in March, 2019.
