In the past few years, Taapsee Pannu has wowed the audience and critics alike with her power-packed performance in hard-hitting films like ‘Pink’, ‘Mulk’ and ‘Manmarziyaan’. The actress is now gearing up for the release of space drama ‘Mission Mangal’. She stars alongside Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi in the film.
The film’s trailer was loved by everyone. However, when its first poster was unveiled, everyone couldn’t help but notice how only Akshay Kumar was given prominence in it. When Taapsee was asked about her take on the importance given to Akshay despite the film’s story being driven by women, she had an important point to highlight.
Explaining her take on the poster, Taapsee told Hindustan Times, “It is great people notice that. Also then, those same people can do something about the collections of a female-driven film. Because Akshay Kumar will get the audience in the theatre, that is the hard fact. All of us are doing great work in our own capacities. But, he will still manage to get a bigger number at the end of the day. We cannot run away from this reality. Whatever issue happened with the poster, hope people realise it and do something about it rather than questioning the makers.”

The ‘Naam Shabana’ actress further added, “The audience can change things by walking into theatres where women are at the forefront. Hopefully, in the future, it shouldn’t be about the gender. Eventually, it is a business and about how much money your films can make.”
Well, Taapsee does have a valid point here. Hopefully, in the future, we will see a change in this regard. Directed by Jagan Shakti, ‘Mission Mangal’ is scheduled to hit the silver screens this Independence Day i.e August 15.
