Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty’s father Basantakumar Chakraborty breathed his last in Mumbai on Tuesday. 95-year-old Basantakumar was suffering through age-related ailments and reportedly he died due to renal failure.
Unfortunately, Mithun is stuck in Bengaluru owing to the nationwide lockdown. The veteran actor’s younger son Namashi Chakraborty confirmed the death of his grandfather to ABP news.

Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta took to the Twitter to offer her condolences to Mithun and his family. “My deep condolences on the sudden demise of your father, Mithun Da. Stay strong & may his soul rest in peace forever (sic),” she wrote.

Reportedly, Mithun went to Bengaluru for a shooting of his film, however, due to the lockdown, he couldn’t return to Mumbai. His family, especially his son Mimoh is waiting for him to return to the city to perform the last rites.
