On Wednesday, actor-politician Mithun Chakraborty was questioned by the Kolkata police over an alleged controversial speech delivered by him during the campaigns for the West Bengal assembly elections. Following which, a complaint was filed against the 71-year-old actor and he was accused of inciting post-poll violence in West Bengal.
Mithun had even filed a petition in Calcutta High Court seeking quashing of the case filed against him. However, he was asked by the court to appear for questioning through video conferencing.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the complainant had pointed out that Mithun used dialogues like “marbo ekhane lash porbe shoshane (Will hit you here and the body will land in the crematorium)” and “ek chobole chabi (one snake bite and you will turn into a photograph)” at a rally in Kolkata. Whereas in his defence, the veteran actor had said that he had just uttered popular dialogues from his films during the rally. And he hasn’t committed any offence as claimed by the complainant.

Recently, several lives were lost in post-poll violence in West Bengal . The complaint filed against the actor also states that his speech provoked a breach of peace, promoted enmity and caused post-poll violence in the state.
