Bollywood has witnessed some spectacular biopics like ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, ‘Mary Kom’, ‘The Dirty Picture’, ‘Soorma’, ‘Dangal’, ‘Manikarnika’ and many more. One more biopic will go on floors this year and that is of Nobel laureate Mother Teresa.
Produced by Pradeep Sharma, Nitin Manmohan, Girish Johar and Prachi Manmohan, the movie will be written and directed by Seema Upadhyay. They also met Sister Prema Mary Pierick (current Superior General of the Missionaries of Charity) and Sister Lynne in Kolkata. Director Seema in a statement to IANS, said, “We visited the charity of missionaries in Kolkata and the experience was surreal. Mother Prema prayed Hail Mary and seeked divine guidance for the film. They also blessed the whole team for their protection, completion and success of the film with the firm belief that it will bring peace and light to everyone associated with this film.”
Also, the producers said in a statement that they will leave no stone unturned to pay their tribute to the noble soul. “We hope we will do justice and will be able to spread the message for peace, love and humanity that Mother Teresa stood for,” said the producers.
Both Indian and international stars will be taken on board for the movie. The script has been finalised and the movie will go on floors by the end of this year. It is likely to release in 2020.
Earlier, Jacqueline Fernandez had expressed her desire to star in the biopic of Mother Teresa.
For the unversed, Mother Teresa came from Albania to India in 1929 and set up the Missionaries of Charity in 1948. She is known for her noble works and charity.
