Did you know Mrunal Thakur was first choice for Sultan and NOT Anushka Sharma?

Recently, during the Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 15, the host Salman Khan revealed that Anushka Sharma was not the first choice for his 2016 superhit film, Sultan but it was Mrunal Thakur. Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal graced the show with their presence to promote their upcoming film, Jersey.

In the episode, Salman Khan told Shahid that Mrunal Thakur was the original choice for the film. He says, “Let me tell you an interesting fact about her. The original star of Sultan was her. She came to the farm (house) to meet me. Ali (Abbas Zafar) had brought her. And that time she didn’t look like a pahalwan.”

Further, the ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ actor said: “I thought in my mind that she doesn’t look like a pahalwan. Well, even Anushka (Sharma) didn’t look like one. But I knew she will do good.” Mrunal also shared, “Let me tell you Shahid, maine uss time bahut zyada wazan ghata liya tha” (I had lost a lot of weight back then).

Before leaving, Mrunal requested a dance with Salman. Shahid leaves that stage saying, “You dance with the original SK, I will wait for you outside.”

Meanwhile, Sultan focuses on Sultan Ali Khan (Salman), a fictional pehlwani wrestler and former world wrestling champion from Haryana whose successful career has created a rift in his personal life. Anushka essays the role of Aarfa Ali Khan, Sultan’s wife in the film.

Talking about Mrunal, she made her first screen appearance was in the drama film Love Sonia (2018) Next, she will be seen in Jersey, Aankh Micholi, Lieutenant Ram, Pippa and, Gumrah.
