Mukesh Khanna recalls refusing to give the rights of Shaktimaan to Aditya Chopra; says, “Tell him whoever he is…”

Mukesh Khanna led Shaktimaan is one of the anticipated projects. The project was announced in 2022 and it came to light that Ranveer Singh will play the lead whi left the actor disappointed. In a recent interview, Mukesh Khanna recalled how Aditya Chopra had once called him for the rights of Shaktimaan which left him upset.

While talking to Siddharth Kannan, Khanna recalled, “Ten years ago, I was contacted by Aditya Chopra’s group. They asked me if I could give them the rights to Shaktimaan. At that time, coincidentally, Ranveer Singh’s fan-made picture as Shaktimaan surfaced on social media. And then, suddenly, I got this call for the rights. I said, ‘Rights nahi dunga main (I won’t give the rights).” The veteran actor put forth a counter-offer. “I told them, ‘Tell Aditya, whoever he is, if you want to make it, make it with me’. I didn’t want to give away the rights only for them to make a disco drama. I refused,” he shared.

In one of his earlier YouTube videos, Mukesh Khanna had expressed that he can see Telugu actor Allu Arjun essaying the role of Shaktiman. “I think I have to watch more Allu Arjun films. Also, let me go out on a limb and say that he has it in him to be Shaktimaan. I am not saying he is doing it or anything. I’m just suggesting that it would look good on him. He has the personality to pull it off,” he said.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble earlier, Mukesh had expressed disappointment with Ranveer Singh playing Shaktimaan. He said, “That became the point of controversy. And that’s the reason I had to put my foot down because his name started appearing everywhere. So, even though it wasn’t in my contract, I had to speak up, which I technically shouldn’t have done, but I had to because it had become unacceptable that this actor was being cast. And I said, I haven’t said anything yet; all I’ve said is that I want someone whose image is good, someone whose facets are suitable.”
