Mumbai Crime Branch to scale down security of Shah Rukh Khan

Bollywood superstars have been on the hit list of many a gangster to make quick money. The Mumbai Crime Branch has been providing round the clock to many such celebrities. Recently Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra had been threatened by Gangster Ravi Pujari, so they too were provided with hi-end security by the Mumbai Police.

Shah Rukh Khan had been provided with security in January last year as the Mumbai Police received information that he could be on the Hit List of the terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Toiba. The other two Khans — Aamir and Salman — also enjoy police cover. All the three stars have been provided with two police escorts and a vehicle. Even Farah Khan and Vidhu Vinod Chopra have been provided with Security. At present the Mumbai police has decided to scale down the security of these Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan.

Sources said, “Our recent audit suggests that the security extended to these celebrities in wake of last year’s firing incident could be relaxed as there is no visible threat to them at this point in time. Therefore, we have suggested to downgrade their security. The call will now be taken by the Commissioner of Police.”

In November, 13 members from the gang were arrested by the Crime Branch in connection with the case, thereby almost pulverising the gang’s operation in the city. Ravi Pujari is a Chota Rajan protege who had defected from his gang and formed his own gang in the late 90s.
