Nana Patekar reveals real reason behind him and Anil Kapoor saying NO to Welcome to the Jungle, says, “Kahani nahi hai”

Nana Patekar is regarded as one of the finest and most versatile actors in the industry. While he has several roles to his credit, the character of Majnu Bhai from Welcome is still remembered by audience. Ever since Welcome 3, titled Welcome to the Jungle was announced there is a lot of curiosity. While there is an ensemble cast, everyone is eager to know why Nana Patekar aka Majnu Bhai and Anil Kapoor aka Uday Bhai are missing from Welcome to the Jungle. Reacting to this, Nana Patekar has now revealed the real reason.

Speaking to The Lallantop, he said, “They did approach us. We said no. Kahani nahi hai. Utna mazza nahi aaya. (There’s no story. We didn’t enjoy it as much)“.

Nana Patekar also said that he was initially unsure about playing Uday Bhai and asked Anees Bazmee to swear on his mother that he would suit the role. “But it wouldn’t have been complete if Anil and I weren’t doing it together. If Anil and I are there, then only Welcome is possible. If you remove me, then he alone can’t make Welcome and vice-versa,” Nana added. Nana Patekar also mentioned how the film’s sequel, Welcome Back, did not work well at the box office.

Welcome 3 stars Raveena Tandon, Suniel Shetty, Lara Dutta, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi and Mika Singh. Sanjay Dutt was also cast in a pivotal role, but the veteran star backed out, citing health reasons. The film is slated to hit the theatres on December 20, 2024.

On the work front, Nana Patekar last featured in Vivek Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War. The film also starred Raima Sen, Anupam Kher and Pallavi Joshi.
