Even after Tanushree’s allegations against Nana Patekar, the actor continued shooting for his part in Jaisalmer with tight security. But as the #MeToo movement started gaining momentum, Nana had to leave the shoot and come back to Mumbai. Post that, director of ‘Housefull 4’ Sajid Khan was accused of sexual misconduct by several women and he was eventually sacked from the movie. Post Sajid’s ouster, Nana Patekar also stepped out of the film stating the reason that he doesn’t want the makers to face any inconvenience due to him.
Nana has already shot some portions of his part and if reports are to be believed then, his role might not be totally edited out of the film. A source close to the film told BollywoodLife that the makers will keep Nana’s portions that have been recently shot in Jodhpur. The source further revealed that his part is important so it is not possible for the makers to omit it completely. All the scenes of Nana are not yet shot and considering the ongoing controversy, it is not clear whether he will shoot the remaining scenes in the last schedule.
The makers have taken Farhad Samji on board after Sajid Khan’s exit. Farhad had earlier directed ‘Housefull 3’ and is also the writer of the entire franchise. Akshay Kumar, who is playing the lead actor, has cancelled the shoot until everything gets sorted. He even released a statement on Twitter which read, “I have just landed back in the country last night and reading all the news has been very disturbing. I have requested the producers of ‘Housefull 4’ to cancel the shoot until further investigation. This is something that requires stringent action. I will not work with any proven offenders and all those who have been subjugated to harassment should be heard and given the justice they deserve.”
