‘Thackeray’: Nawazuddin Siddiqui talks about playing the role of Balasaheb Thackeray

In Abhijit Panse’s ‘Thackeray’, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be seen playing the role of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray. In a recent interview with DNA, Nawazuddin Siddiqui talked about how difficult it was to portray the character of Bal Thackeray in the much-awaited film. Nawaz said that when he first heard that he will be roped in for ‘Thackeray‘, it felt like the best moment of his life. Elaborating on his role, he said, “It has been a most challenging role for me.’

The movie ‘Thackeray’ has been a topic of discussion ever since its first look was released. Siddiqui’s fans have been appreciating and showering love for his outstanding performance. Nawazuddin told the daily, “I couldn’t even imagine the difficulty this role would offer and I started growing nervous with time. The director helped me ease into the role while we were shooting,”

“Balasaheb’s personality is so imposing that one can only try to live up to it. It has been a tremendous opportunity for me as an actor and I am ever thankful to Sanjay Raut,” Nawaz added.

It is to be noted that Amrita Rao will also be seen in the film as Meenatai Thackeray (wife of Bal Thackeray). Ever since its new trailer was uploaded on YouTube, several supporters of Shiv Sena said that they won’t allow any other film to clash with ‘Thackeray’ on January 25. Later the makers of Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Cheat India’ preponed their film’s release as their film too was scheduled to hit the silver screens on January 25.
