Netflix dismisses Sohum Shah’s allegation on Squid Game coping Imran Khan starrer Luck plot

Actor and director Sohum Shah recently accused the makers of Squid Game of plagiarism and sued Netflix for Copyright infringement for copying Luck movie’s plot. According to Sohum, the makers of Squid Game have copied the plot of Imran Khan starrer Luck. Now, Netflix dismissed the allegations, saying these claims have no merit. Defending the writer of Squid Games, Hwang Dong Hyuk, the platform stated that they intend to defend this matter vigorously.

“This claim has no merit. Squid Game was created by and written by Hwang Dong Hyuk and we intend to defend this matter vigorously,” says the Netflix spokesperson. Earlier, Shah claimed that he wrote his story in or around the year 2006. In July 2009, Luck was released worldwide in theatres across India, the United Kingdom, the United States and the UAE. On the other hand, Hwang Dong-hyuk, who is also being sued, claimed that he wrote his story in 2009. That was the same year when Luck was released. However, there’s no development in this legal war.

Just so you know, Sohum Shah’s Luck is about a group of indebted people who participate in competitive games to win a whopping prize money. To win, they must compete, and kill each other and as the contestants keep dying, the prize money increases. The plot is similar to Squid Game and Sohum sued the makers for the same.

Luck stars Mithun Chakraborty, Shruti Haasan, Imran Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Danny Denzongpa, Ravi Kishan and Chitrashi Rawat in pivotal roles. Whereas the makers have announced the second part of Squid Game.
