Netflix acquires rights to Rishi Kapoor’s ‘Rajma Chawal’

Filmmaker Leena Yadav and powerhouse performer Rishi Kapoor are all set to make their debut on Netflix with their upcoming release ‘Rajma Chawal’. The movie is all about the importance of a family in the age of social media. The movie has Rishi Kapoor depicting the role of Raj Mathur, the patriarch of the Mathur family. It also stars Amyra Dastur, Aparshakti Khurana and Anirudh Tanwar in his debut role as Kabir Mathur, the son.

The story is set against the background of Chandni Chowk area in Delhi and captures the relationship between a father attempting to reconnect with his estranged son through social media.

Leena Yadav’s first international feature film,’Parched’ had premiered at Toronto International Film Festival in 2015. Speaking about Rajma Chawal, she said that the father-son dynamic is a universal human theme and Netflix, with its global reach, is an ideal partner.

‘Rajma Chawal’ will be available exclusively on Netflix, worldwide, on November 30, 2018, before which it will premiere at the BFI London Film Festival in October.
