Coronavirus pandemic has affected every sector. The music industry is also affected as the live shows, concerts and performances have been stalled and it has really become a concern for the musicians and singers. Online live shows have been organised during the lockdown but these are not like the live shows.
We recently spoke to Nikhita Gandhi and asked her how the pandemic has affected her as a musician as live concerts have come to a halt. To which she said, “I think economically we musicians have taken probably a larger hit than all other sectors. Everybody has had a budget and salary cuts but for us, I think it’s been most. In terms of percentage, their income has gone down from 100 to 60-80 % and. Some of our people are completely unemployed and most of our income has gone down to about 30 % of what we used to make and how we used to earn money through shows.”
“There are also online gigs happening but they are really small in size. We are hoping that this too shall pass and eventually we will get over it and get back to normal. This is not going to be the reality forever,” she added.
On the work front, Nikhita’s latest single ‘Naach Meri Rani’ that she crooned along with Guru Randhawa has been receiving great response from the music lovers.
Recently, Aditya Narayan has also opened up about his financial condition that has been affected by the pandemic.
