Nitesh Tiwari pens the story of ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ for wife Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari

The director of ‘Dangal’, Nitesh Tiwari, has penned the script of wife Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s directorial ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi‘. His wife, who has donned the director’s hat for the second time after the Swara Bhasker-starrer ‘Nil Battey Sannata’, is excited about her upcoming project ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ which is co-written by her husband, Nitesh Tiwari along with Shreyas Jain.

Speaking up on the same, Nitesh Tiwari said, “I was sceptical only during ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ (Ashwiny’s debut film) as I had not attended even a single day’s shoot and had no idea what Ashwiny was doing. But after seeing the film, I have stopped questioning her.” He further reveals that he and Shreyas hail from small towns in Madhya Pradesh and hence their script borrows from the lives that they have lived. Adds Nitesh, “There are characters modelled on people we have grown up with. This is the first time we have written something lighthearted and quirky and I’m eager to see the audience’s response.” (Also Read: Nitesh Tiwari’s next to be a literary adaptation)

His next movie is reportedly Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala’s adaptation of the novel, ‘How I Braved Anu Aunty and Co-founded a Million Dollar Company’. Coming back to Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, the trailer was released today and it’s a fun, lighthearted romantic comedy which stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Sanon in main roles. The story is set in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh and is based on personal experiences of the writers.
