Ranbir Kapoor was supposed to turn producer with Anurag Basu’s Kishore Kumar biopic. But that is not happening anymore. After Basu spent almost three years in conceptualising and finishing ‘Jagga Jasoos‘, a lot of Ranbir’s other projects had to be pushed ahead of time.
Now, Ranbir has already signed Sanjay Dutt biopic which he’s currently shooting for and soon, he will begin filming for good friend Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Dragon’. And Basu wants to revive the Kishore Kumar biopic and start filming by the end of this year. Ranbir doesn’t have dates so he has decided to opt for another hero for the biopic. Guess what? He has already approached another young A-lister for the role. A source revealed, “Anurag has met Ranveer Singh and discussed the idea. Ranveer has absolutely loved the script and has decided to give him the dates. But he is also pre-occupied with ‘Padmavati’ till November and then, he begins Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy’ soon after. But he is trying to work out his dates so that he can do the biopic as he’s very kicked about it.”
It’s only left us thinking why Basu would opt for Ranbir’s arch rival for the role, if things were fine between them. Nevertheless, if Ranveer agrees, this would be his first biopic and given the amount of quirk and madness that he’s known for, he is the apt candidate to essay someone as zany like Kishore da on celluloid.
