The MeToo movement has caused the downfall of a number of celebrities as more and more women are opening up on being sexually harassed. Not only Nana Patekar but also Sajid Khan, Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Subhash Ghai and many more faced the heat for their alleged misbehaviour and recently ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ and ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ director Luv Ranjan too has been accused by an aspiring actress.
In an interview to Mid-Day an actress who had opted to stay anonymous alleged that Luv Ranjan had asked her to strip her clothes during an audition in 2010 and also asked her about her virginity. However, the filmmaker has denied all the allegations and issued a statement stating he has never done any such wrongdoings and always respected women. Luv Ranjan has received support from many of his colleagues and friends from the industry, one of them being Nushrat Bharucha.

The ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ star Nushrat Bharucha vouched for Luv Ranjan and shared her association with the director since her first film. She took to her social media handle and issued a statement. She wrote, “By now, everyone who’s reading this already knows the significance of #MeToo. Being a woman myself, I understand the courage it takes to speak up and how much it hurts to suffer silently. But I also know what it means to be accused falsely. I’m talking about the accusations being levelled against Luv Ranjan. I was the first girl cast in ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ and I have been an actress in all of his films ever since. So, one can view this in two ways: either I am too close to see things objectively, or, I am one of the few people who, without a doubt, can tell you who this man really is.”

She further added, “Ayesha Raza Mishraji talked about an incident on the set of SKTKS, where a female crew member had been a victim of inappropriate behaviour by a male actor. Luv Sir took a stand and fired the actor from the film, recast and reshot those scenes.”
Now we don’t know if Luv Ranjan has falsely or rightly accused, but all we wish is that nobody’s hard-earned reputation gets tarnished by false accusations.
