Akelli Trailer: Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer shows dark realities of war in a gripping tale of survival

Nushrratt Bharuccha is all set to grace the silver screen with her upcoming movie, Akelli. The film is based on the backdrop of the war in Iraq and portrays the struggles that women faced in the terrifying situation.

On Friday, the actress unveiled the trailer on her Instagram. The trailer of Akelli begins with bombings across Iraq in 2014, and we see Nushrratt trying to escape the chaos. Cut to the backstory, we gain insight into how she finds herself entangled in this dire situation. Nushrratt portrays a Punjabi girl who relocates to Mosul, a city in Iraq, due to her job. The trailer delves deeper into the story, showing Nushrratt and other women working in a manufacturing place getting captured by the Syrians. As the trailer unfolds, we witness a spine-chilling fight for her survival, as she is thrust into a situation that goes far beyond her understanding.

The intriguing words that come up on the trailer read, “An ordinary Indian girl trapped in a war-torn land. Survival is her battle. Brace yourself for a gripping tale of survival, courage, escape, freedom.”

Sharing the trailer, Nushrratt wrote her in the caption, “AKELLI – An Ordinary Girl’s Battle For Survival. #AkelliTrailer, Out Now. Coming only in cinemas on 18th August….#Akelli.”

Nushrratt Bharuccha’s acting looks extremely promising in the trailer. Her intensity as the lead character has left me in awe. The actress is proving her mark in Bollywood. It’s safe to say that this movie is about to be one of her best performances to date.

The movie Akelli marks the debut of director Pranay Meshram. Apart from Nushrratt, the movie stars Israeli actors Tsahi Halevi and Amir Boutrous. Adding to the cast, Nishant Dahiya and Rajesh Jais play pivotal roles. The film will release on 18 August 2023.
