October: THIS is how Banita Sandhu bagged her role in the Varun Dhawan-starrer

Varun Dhawan and newbie Banita Sandhu will soon be seen sharing screen space in director Shoojit Sircar’s ‘October’. The film’s teaser has already created a lot of buzz as Varun’s pairing with the model turned actress has been the talk of the town. But do you guys know, before this film, we have already seen this lady and she is quite popular, confused?

Banita Sandhu is an NRI living in London but a Punjabi by roots. Banita has been part of many TV commercials but she became a household name post her chewing gum advertisement.

Interestingly, the commercial was shot by filmmaker Shoojit who was then in the lookout for the leading lady for his film ‘October’. Working with the actress, the director thought of having her on-board for the film.

Talking about Banita’s casting in the film, Shoojit Sircar quotes, “Everyone was in awe of Banita from the chewing gum commercial which I had directed. While I was shooting the ad film, Juhi Chaturvedi and I were also working on the script of ‘October’. One day, I clicked a picture of Banita and sent it to Juhi saying, ‘She has the potential to fit into the character that we are looking at”.
