OK Jaanu

Shaad Ali’s romantic flick ‘OK Jaanu’ has been cleared with a UA certificate with only 4 cuts. A leading daily quoted a source, “Only four verbal cuts were ordered. And these were minor alterations in the dialogue. Surprisingly, the censor board had no objection to the the theme of live-in relationship.”

The movie is a remake of the Tamil original flick ‘O Kadhal Kanmani’ which had gone for censor certification in March 2015 and it had created a lot of hue and cry as the movie deals with the theme of live-in relationships. But, it looks like that’s not the case with the Hindi remake which had a smooth ride getting clearance by the CBFC. Censor Chief Pahlaj Nihalani says, “The times are changing. At one time couples couldn’t even meet before marriage. Now, they get a chance to spend time with one another to know whether they are compatible or not. That’s a social reality. We must recognise and respect the changes in social mores.”

It looks like the CBFC is bending its rules slowly and steadily, and turning progressive as we cannot forget that Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor-starrer ‘Befikre’ was also granted a UA rating in spite of Ranveer flaunting his naked butt in one scene.

‘OK Jaanu’ is helmed by Shaad Ali and co-produced by Mani Ratnam and Karan Johar. The movie starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles is all set for release on January 13, 2017.
