On Saina Nehwal’s birthday, Parineeti Chopra wishes her ‘muse’: Trying to become you for the last 2 years was my biggest honour

Badminton star Saina Nehwal has turned a year older today. On her 31st birthday, fans, friends and well-wishers of Saina showered with love and blessings for her. Parineeti Chopra, who is playing Saina in the biopic of the badminton champion also wished her on social media.

Parineeti called Saina her ‘muse’. “My champion, and my muse! Trying to become you for the last 2 years was my biggest honour … Happy bdayyy SAINA! Hope we make you proud with your story,” she tweeted.

Saina’s biopic will depict her inspiring journey as a badminton champion. Yesterday, Parineeti took to her social media handles to share a BTS video in which she shows the emotions and pain she had to go through while training for the biopic. Sharing the video, she wrote, “How I became #SAINA ? Shot in London, Mumbai and Thane. Thankyou Eshan, Vad sir and the entire badminton community for teaching me. I dedicate this film to you ?(sic).”

At the trailer launch event, Parineeti had said that the team had the full support of Saina as she gave them access to her life. “I would call her, video call her and she would answer all my questions. That way pressure management was better,” said Parineeti.

Directed by Amole Gupte, Saina is set to release in theatres on March 26. The movie also stars Manav Kaul.
