Nargis Fakhri – ‘Rockstar’
You must be thinking we are insane to put this on our list. We agree with you; we have a penchant for the unconventional. Nargis Fakhri's graceful dulhan avatar in 'Rockstar' was a whiff of fresh air. We were compelled to put this on our list as Bollywood hasn’t seen many Kashmiri brides. The shaneel fyran (a Kashmiri wedding outfit in velvet), the tarang (a cap worn by Kashmiri brides), the jhoomer, nude makeup and those innocent eyes stole our heart.
Deepika Padukone – ‘Chennai Express’
Who could pull off that Kanjeevaram bridal saree better than Deepika? Our original South girl sported gold jewellery and gajra, which looked quite traditional. Even the coral blouse complemented her skin tone and looked great.
Kareena Kapoor – ‘3 Idiots’
Kareena scored brownie points the moment she hopped on that scooter wearing a rust orange lehenga and wore that helmet with so much cuteness. It's not something we see every day, right? The full sleeves anarkali style piece decorated with dabka, Swarovski, sequins, crystal and beads work gave a completely hatke look to our gorgeous Bebo.
Sonam Kapoor – ‘Dolly Ki Doli’
This uptown girl doesn't have to try too hard to make it on any fashion list. The lady wore this designer Anita Dongre raw silk, Gota Patti lehenga with a biker jacket and sneakers. She completed the look with a bottle of alcohol (sorry for reiterating, but we love tipsy brides dancing their heart out). We mean it. Sonam definitely inspired many brides to be cool and not-so-shy on their D-Day. It's time to take a cue, ladies and look lovely on your wedding just like these divas.
We Indians are smitten with larger-than-life on-screen brides. There’s something about these two words: weddings and Bollywood that spells magic and stirs up a storm of dreams. Just take a walk down the overcrowded lanes of Delhi’s Chandni Chowk aka Bridal Mecca or any other small town, and you’ll come across at least ten brides-to-be frantically looking for either “that Kareena lehenga” or “Sonam’s sexy blue ‘Dolly Ki Doli’ outfit” (who can possibly forget the image of a drunk bride?).
