‘Coffee with D’ has an interesting concept where a journalist is planning to interview the most wanted man. However, it has been revealed that the film is inspired by the Hollywood Oscar winning movie ‘Frost Nixon’ which was based on an interview between a British journalist and US President Richard Nixon.
In the Bollywood flick, it is about a journalist named Arnab Ghosh who wants to interview D. These characters are inspired by real life personalities Arnab Goswami and Dawood Ibrahim respectively.

The director of the film, Vishal Mishra said, “Several filmmakers shy away from admitting the source of their inspiration. However we are of a different opinion, we have in fact kept a poster hanging in the protagonist’s Arnab’s house, as a tribute to iconic film that inspired us to go ahead and make ‘Coffee with D’.”
The movie, which stars Sunil Grover in the lead role, is slated to release on January 6.
