‘Padmaavat’ row: Karni Sena members vandalise Ajay Devgn’s cinema hall in UP

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s labour of love ‘Padmaavat’ finally released in cinema halls on Jan 25 this year. In spite of severe opposition and protests from Karni Sena, the movie released after Supreme Court uplifted the ban demanded by certain states. However, that hasn’t stopped Karni Sena from continuing to stage protests and indulge in vandalism. Now, as per a report in Mid-Day, members of Karni Sena vandalised a cinema hall in Uttar Pradesh which is owned by Ajay Devgn.

The manager of the hall revealed, “As soon as they got to know that advance booking was to begin, the protesters gathered around and started chanting slogans. They smashed the glass façade of the ticket windows. They also demanded to meet the owner to ensure that the film would not be exhibited.”

Reportedly, this happened in a multiplex in Pilkhuwa at Hapur district. It’s indeed unfortunate that a mere movie becomes a reason for massive destruction to life and property and turns in a political scenario.
